1 x Domaine René Bouvier Marsannay Le Finage 2018

Originally established in Marsannay, the domaine is now based in Gevrey, where it continues under the stewardship of René’s son: Bernard Bouvier. Owners of superb parcels in Marsannay, their holdings also include choice plots in Fixin and Gevrey.

Bernard is one of the very best winemakers in Marsannay. He privileges infusions rather than heavy extractions, producing fine, fruity and silky wines that are true reflections of their terroir. The purity and elegance of the wines have made this domaine a standard-bearer for Burgundy lovers.

The 2018 range is very successful. Let us point out the kindness of the welcome at the estate, an organic approach, a range of Gevreys, Marsannays and Fixins at affordable prices and of great consistency.

1 x Vincent Fritzsche Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2019

Less than 50 years ago, no one knew anything about Oregon wine. California was just getting on the map. Today, the state is widely recognized for the quality of its Pinot Noirs, most specifically those from the Willamette Valley.

Vincent Fritzsche, who focuses on single vineyard Pinots, launched his winery in 2009 after working in both California and Oregon, and is now based in the Eola-Amity Hills, one the sub-regions of the Willamette Valley. He is all about low-input wine making, working with several vineyards around the Willamette Valley, that are farmed at least sustainably, if not organically or according to biodynamics, to produce small amounts of handmade wine without a lot of fuss.

1 x Holger Koch Pinot Noir Herrenstuck Baden 2020

Baden, and in particular the pretty range of hills known as the Kaiserstuhl (‘Emperor’s Chair’), is the traditional seat of German Pinot Noir production. This is a volcanic outcrop on the Rhine plain overlooking Alsace, with a mix of warm volcanic and stony loess soils.

Holger Koch’s small nine-hectare estate lies at its heart. On taking over from his parents in 1999, he immediately replanted with small-berried French clones from Alsace and Burgundy. The vineyards, some which were planted with cuttings from old vines in Puligny, are also worked in a Burgundian fashion. French romanticism meets German engineering.

All the wines are finely structured and aromatic, and age extremely well.
